Last September AMUT completed in Colombia the commissioning of the second of three plants for SMI Group, the food & beverage industry giant in Latin America, to the customer’s full satisfaction. SMI aims for growth in Colombia by offering a comprehensive and sustainable solution to meet environmental commitments and customer needs.
In Bogotá, AMUT, specialising in complete recycling plants and machinery, was involved in the construction of a 3,000 kg/h net output from Post Consumer PET bottles turnkey plastic recycling project, developed entirely by AMUT. The facility includes an efficient front-end to pre-sort and pre-wash the bottle stream including the patented wet Delabeller.
Last December SMI inaugurated the largest recycling installation in Peru, becoming one of the most important in America. AMUT, as part of the project, completed the construction of the first of three PET recycling plants, awarded by the company focusing on the production of 100% recycled bottles. The new 6,000 kg/h line delivered to Lima, the largest recycling plant in Peru, is a sister plant of the 3,000 kg/h project in Colombia.
At the Guatemala City site in Guatemala, development work is underway, under the supervision of our experts, on the third project awarded by the SMI Group: another integrated 3,000 kg/h sorting and washing solution.
AMUT’s technical and technological expertise, based on patented high-performance machinery, guarantees a high production capacity and quality of the flakes, making them suitable for Bottle-to-Bottle application. The environmentally sustainable plant is water, energy and chemically efficient as it reduces fresh water consumption to 1.1 litres per kg of high purity RPET flakes, thanks to AMUT’s patented Hot Friction Washer, the Turbo Washer and the newly developed Turbo Dryer.
The AMUT recycling technologies, while producing R-PET, contribute to remove thousands of tons of post consumer plastic from the environment for a more sustainable world.
