Economic results
In the recently concluded 2018/2019 fiscal year, ENGEL achieved group sales of EUR 1.6 billion, an increase of six percent over the previous year. “The German-speaking countries of Europe – Germany, Austria, Switzerland – and Asia in particular contributed to the renewed sales growth,” reports Dr. Stefan Engleder, CEO of the ENGEL Group. Throughout the fiscal year just passed, ENGEL generated 54 percent of its turnover in Europe, while Asia accounted for 21 percent and the Americas for 24 percent. There are currently 6,900 staff working at the ENGEL Group’s plants and subsidiaries worldwide, 3,900 of them at the three Austrian plants in Schwertberg, St. Valentin and Dietach.
New ENGEL technology centre
ENGEL AUSTRIA has launched its new “ENGEL Technology Centre. Innovation at heart” at its headquarters in Schwertberg, Austria. “We have created our own pilot plant for vertical integration in injection moulding and can thus support our customers even more comprehensively on their way to implementing the smart factory,” says Dr. Stefan Engleder, CEO of the ENGEL Group. The new customer technology centre is the heart of the latest expansion at headquarters.
ENGEL inject 4.0 at K 2019
ENGEL is bringing the smart factory to life with its inject 4.0 range at the K 2019. The injection moulding machine manufacturer and systems solution provider is demonstrating how production processes can continually self-optimise through the networking of production systems; the systematic usage of machine, process and production data; and the deployment of intelligent assistance systems. Two new assistance systems, iQ process observer and iQ melt control, are making their world premiere in Düsseldorf. iQ weight control is set to be used in recycled material processing for the first time, paving the way for a circular economy for plastics.
ENGEL celebrates 30 years of tie-bar-less technology
When it comes to the unparalleled success story of ENGEL’s tie-bar-less technology, the numbers speak for themselves, with more than 70,000 machines in the hands of around 10,000 customers. It was first released 30 years ago at the K show in 1989 and is currently enjoying a true resurgence. ENGEL’s tie-bar-less injection moulding machines are able, like no other machine design, to combine cost-effectiveness and efficiency with minimal resource consumption.
Actively advancing the circular economy
Circular Economy is one of the focus topics at K 2019 and also the “green thread” running through injection moulding machine manufacturer and system solutions provider ENGEL’s trade fair appearance. Dr. Stefan Engleder, the CEO of the ENGEL Group, emphasises the huge importance of this topic in the run-up to the trade fair as follows: “It is my personal concern to contribute to establishing a circular economy for the plastics industry, which bears a global responsibility that can only be met by companies working together. I therefore welcome the focus on Circular Economy at the most important international industry event. K will give this subject even more impetus.”
