Last December, the Chinese government published a report classifying additive manufacturing (AM) and powder metallurgy among the nation’s “strategic emerging industries”. This designation reinforces the importance of these technologies within the nation’s long-term industrial development strategy and positions them for further research and investment. Reflecting this focus, Formnext + PM South China will return to the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center from 28 – 30 August 2024. The event will bring together Chinese and international companies from across the additive manufacturing, powder metallurgy and advanced ceramics supply chains, generating new opportunities for business growth and collaboration.

Worldwide, these advanced manufacturing technologies are seeing increased adoption, as their applications broaden across sectors including automotive, aerospace, defence, dental and electronics. China’s additive manufacturing industry in particular has seen substantial growth under this trend, having expanded at a rate of nearly 30% between 2015 and 2022. This growth has enabled the emergence of a growing number of domestic companies within the sector.

These market conditions also have implications for powder metallurgy, which, like metal additive manufacturing, relies on powdered metal feedstock. As metal AM systems become more widespread, demand for high-quality metal powders rises in tandem, encouraging advancements in materials and production methods across these complementary supply chains.

In 2024, Formnext + PM South China will unite these interconnected fields once again, providing a central meeting point for industry professionals to discover new solutions, establish partnerships and drive technological progress. Affirming its growing reputation as a hub for innovation and industry collaboration, the 2023 event saw a notable increase in both exhibitor and visitor count, at 38% and 41% respectively. This year, the event is on track to continue this growth with an anticipated 300 exhibitors across 20,000 sqm of floor space.

The event draws high-profile exhibitors from both domestic and international markets, offering a wide range of equipment, materials, software, services, post-processing solutions, and more. Confirmed attendees in the field of additive manufacturing include ADDDLIT, Addireen 3D, Avimetal AM, Bright Laser, Cerawei, EASYMFG, Enigma, Farsoon, FLOW-3D, Haitian Additive, HP, INTAMSYS, Jinwu, KOCEL, Rong Technology, Seal Laser, ShangCai 3D, TenDimensions, Tianhong Laser and Zhongyuan Advanced Materials.

Representing the powder metallurgy and advanced ceramics sectors, companies such as Alcera, Cfine Machinery, Cincy Intelligent Equipment, Facerom T, Gangwon Technopark, Guci, Huaxin Electric Furnace, Jinchuan Group, Jiuyajiu Intelligent Equipment, Junci Electronic, KamTai Refractories, Lixin Industry, Longding New Mstar, Mei-Yang Vacuum, NCS Testing, Shenxing Technology, Sinterzone, Sunrise CNC Bearing Equipment, Taike Micro Porcelain, Union Process Precision, XY New Material, Yibenxin Intelligent, Yuean Advanced, Zhonghuan Furnace and more will also be in attendance.
