The Lubricant Expo will take place in Düsseldorf from September 17 to 19, 2024. Hamburg-based Berg+Schmidt Performance Chemicals will be there to present its latest product line, BergaGuard: The water-soluble corrosion inhibitor is a sustainable alternative to conventional anti-corrosion solutions. Another highlight at the stand of the specialist for basic and specialty chemicals is a racing simulator.
“The growing awareness of the finite nature of fossil resources and the desire for sustainable products has also reached lubricant production”, says Thorben Podewils, Business Manager at Berg+Schmidt, adding: ”The challenge is to implement sustainable practices, for example to develop biodegradable lubricants, to recycle base oils or to optimize packaging in terms of its recyclability”. Another challenge facing the sector is the transformation of entire industries: Electric motors, for example, require special coolants and lubricants that differ significantly from those for combustion engines.
Biodegradable corrosion inhibitor
Sustainability is firmly anchored in the values of the long-established Hamburg-based company and forms the basis of Berg+Schmidt’s work. The new BergaGuard product line pays full tribute to this value: the product is characterized by good biodegradability and high yield. BergaGuard is highly effective even in low concentrations and protects both tools and metal workpieces from oxidation and thus from premature wear. The new product range can be added to water-miscible cooling lubricants, cleaners or water-based anti-corrosion coatings. BergaGuard can also be used in the anti-corrosion treatment of metal surfaces or for water treatment in cooling or heating circuits. “We are delighted to be presenting our range at Lubricant Expo”, says Podewils.
Women’s power for the race track
A special highlight at stand 307 is a simulator in which visitors can test their skills on the race track. Berg+Schmidt is one of the sponsors of the WS Racing women’s team and is giving away two VIP tickets for a race at the Nürburgring among all participants.
