Growing environmental sensitivity has consolidated the importance of biomaterials in the world market. Biopolymers and biomaterials in general are based on renewable biomass, actively reducing CO₂ emissions. Furthermore, many of them are compostable or degrade quickly.

In recent years, Maris have consolidated their know-how in the field of biomaterials, biopolymers and starch deconstruction, by designing dedicated extrusion lines for each individual process. An extruder whose main characteristic is flexibility in terms of layout, and more generally of process, allows to cover a large portion of the market in the production of bio compounding/biopolymers.

Maris offer extruders to produce a wide range of biomaterials, providing versatile solutions for different applications and meeting market needs in terms of sustainability:

  • Compound of biopolymer such as PLA, PBTA and PHA
  • High-filled biopolymer compound
  • WPC compound (30-60% of wood)
  • Compounds reinforced with natural fibres (e.g. Lignin, hemp and cellulose)
  • Biodegradable compound with starch (e.g. corn or potato)
  • Thermoplastic starch
  • PLA recycling
