This fully automated Rock’n Roll rotomoulding machine is an engineering marvel, boasting a vast internal moulding space of 65 inches in diameter by 48 feet in length (1651 mm x 14.6 m). Specifically designed for a client that moulds long cylindrical tubes used in composite gas storage tanks, this machine pushes the boundaries of size, performance, and precision. Capable of supporting a total load of up to 15,000 lbs (6,804 kg) including the arm, this machine is built for durability and efficiency.

One of the standout features of this custom design is the innovative cradle arm. At the client’s request, we crafted an arm with circular tubing and laser-cut openings to ensure optimized airflow around the mould, reducing cooling time and enhancing product consistency. With a structural weight of 8,000 lbs (3,629 kg), the arm itself is robust, yet it still supports an additional 7,000 lbs (3,175 kg) of moulding capacity, all while maintaining unparalleled stability.

The machine’s oven, a central component of its performance, is truly colossal. Equipped with four high-capacity burners, each delivering 1.5 million BTU/hr, and eight powerful circulation fans displacing a combined 64,000 CFM of air (108,702 m³/h), this oven can handle intensive heating requirements with ease. Engineered with meticulous insulation, the oven minimizes thermal bridging, ensuring that every degree of heat contributes directly to efficient and uniform moulding. This level of design sophistication not only drives energy savings but also makes this machine a leader in thermal efficiency.

Built on the acclaimed HRM platform by Rotomachinery Group, this system benefits from the platform’s well-known reliability and advanced functionality, marking it as one of the most sought-after rotomoulding solutions on the market.

Functionality and user control are key, with two automated carts each featuring four airlines per arm, alongside a slip ring connected to four thermocouples. All are integrated into our APM (Automated Process Management) system, which offers the operator complete oversight of the temperature-controlled process. The elevated oven design allows both carts to slide out from below, bringing the moulds down to ground level for easy maintenance—conveniently positioned at the edge of the safety zone. This innovative layout not only streamlines operations but also maximizes uptime by making servicing safer and more accessible.

Safety is paramount with this machine, which is equipped with sophisticated security features designed to protect operators without compromising productivity. Automated fencing integrated into the pit lowers during the loading phase, allowing carts to position directly below the oven. As the cooking cycle begins, the barriers rise automatically, creating a secure perimeter. Additional fixed barriers on the machine’s sides and light barriers at the work zone entrance enhance operator safety even further, reducing risk during the machine’s most active phases.

This machine stands as a testament to sheer industrial scale and engineering expertise, weighing in at a total of 100 metric tons (220,462 lbs)—making it the largest and most powerful rotomoulding machine we’ve ever built.
