Starlinger has published its new sustainability report, outlining the progress made over the past two years in environmental and social areas. The report includes a materiality analysis, based on evaluations from internal and external stakeholders on 18 sustainability topics, as well as detailed data on energy consumption, emissions, and waste management. It also highlights measures implemented to improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

In the social sphere, since 2023 the company has launched the “Fit & X’sund Weissenbach” project, promoting health and well-being at work. Additionally, Starlinger supports sustainability-focused research projects, such as the collaboration with the Josef Ressel-Zentrum for Recovery Strategies for Textiles (ReSTex), focused on recycling cotton-polyester blends at the Biotech Campus Tulln, part of Wiener Neustadt University of Applied Sciences.

Sustainability is also at the heart of the company’s solutions. A global leader in manufacturing machines for woven plastic sacks, Starlinger designs systems with a strong focus on energy efficiency, waste reduction, and maximum productivity. This approach enables customers to produce reusable and easily recyclable sacks, promoting a circular economy.

“In the plastic packaging industry, it’s essential to integrate sustainability at every stage of the process,” said Angelika Huemer, Managing Partner of Starlinger. “Our systems help optimize resource use and reduce emissions, transforming used plastic into a valuable raw material for new products.”

Since 2024, Ilona Wimmer has been leading the CSR department and overseeing the implementation of strategic initiatives in this area. The company is now preparing for compliance with the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), aiming to publish a sustainability report aligned with the new regulations for the 2025/26 financial year.
