AMUT has a broad portfolio of lines and machinery for plastics processing, including extrusion lines for thermoplastic PVC and TPO membranes, both single-ply and multilayer with internal reinforcement, for civil applications. The Novara-based company’s high-performance technology enables customers to produce waterproofing membranes with high quality standards, while achieving improved energy efficiency and low environmental impact.
AMUT’s vast experience in the design and manufacture of lines for synthetic waterproofing membranes, tested in numerous installations around the world, guarantees the satisfaction of the most stringent project specifications and a targeted support to the customer. AMUT is proud to work worldwide with biggest players that confirm their trust in our systems and consolidate a successful collaboration for future projects, in the years to come.
An achievement resulting from cutting-edge technology, combined with the expertise and joint work of the parties’ technical staff.
This was the case with POLYGLASS, part of Mapei Group, an Italian customer who confirmed its confidence in AMUT by awarding the Novara-based company three consecutive projects. In the expansion trajectory, pursued by the client, AMUT was chosen to provide a custom-engineered extrusion plant producing 2000 kg/h of 3 layers TPO membrane with inline compounding, adding functional mineral filler like flame retardant, suitable for roofing and tunnel applications. The membrane is reinforced by means of PES scrim or glass fiber. In addition, with a dedicated lamination unit that can handle a wide range of fleece back from 80 to 1000 gr/m2.
The technologically advanced line compounds raw materials directly during production, allowing the optimization of recipes in the 3 extruders and achieving a tailored quality for each layer as well as a consistent cost reduction. The dosing system composed by 7 feeders for each station, allows to track the kg/h output real time with a precise gravimetric technology and to easily adjust recipes according to production needs.
This plant boasts an advanced control line system and process parameters based on AMUT outstanding software technology and customer specific requirements, featuring high-level operations automation, with reduced operator’s intervention and an user-friendly human interface.
A thickness measurement system monitors continuously the membrane allowing a real time evaluation of the thicknesses along the width and adjusting the extrusion die accordingly in order to keep the thickness at the target value and within certain tolerances.
To enhance the automation level and the quality control, an inline defect detector system allows the identification of any defects in the final product like black dots as well as glossy areas and applies tags on the membrane edge that are easily recognized by the operator and consequently discarded or classified as lower quality product.
The final product can be lastly winded either in Jumbo-rolls format for consequent processes or directly in commercial rolls and finally palletized ready to be delivered to the final customers.
The first plant has a maximum hourly output of 2000 kg/h and, depending on the product, can have a total annual production of around 7 million square meters of membranes.
The second project arises as the willingness to develop and industrialize an innovative product, consist in a lamination unit that can be used to improve products adding to a base sheet additional layer consisting in reinforce net, back fleece or thermoplastic films.
The plant is flexible and has a wide portfolio of products that can be processed. In fact, it can handle different polymers like TPO, PVC, EVA and PE with different widths up to 2.1 m. and thicknesses from 1.2 up to 4 mm.
The third plant, suitable for a production of a maximum rate of up to2500 Kg/h total output, has been designed to produce HDPE, VLDPE and EVA single ply homogenous membranes, which thickness ranges from 0.5 to 4 mm thickness and a net width of 1200 or 2100. The plant is ready for the addition of a second extruder, according to a “ready to implement” solution, aimed at improving the total output and the membrane structure design.
The third plant, according to the same assumptions, considering the thinner and narrower product, can produce at a maximum of 25 m/min AMUT is considered a strategic partner by its reputed clientele worldwide. Supplying high performance lines thanks to the huge background in the foil/sheet/membrane extrusion field and the will of continuously innovate its product portfolio. While pursuing quality and technological advancement, AMUT always tries to customize the systems and tailor them to the needs of its customers.
